Why I am not Successful | Atomic Psyche

Why only 10% of the world is successful? And if so, how can we take entry into this 10%?

In this blog we will be talking about:

  1. Present State of Mind
  2. How to Boss your Brain

CHAPTER 1:

The present state of Mind.

  1. I don’t have money to make it big!
  2. I want to earn more but do not know how?
  3. I want to get rid of a specific habit like smoking, procrastination or something that.
  4. I am guilty of wasting time
  5. I set my goal for the day, but always end up doing nothing
  6. I have too many other priorities to take care of
  7. I don’t have time for this
  8. I am not in a good space to think about all this positive stuff
  9. Self-help is a stupid thing to follow. These lectures sound good only to hear or watch, implementing the same does not happen.

Trust me, this list can go forever. There is a world happening around you and hence you can create an ’n’ number of scenarios to escape, but all you need is one ARGUMENT to make things happen.

Before going to any other part, let’s come to the VIEWPOT

VIEWPOT is a section where we take a life example and break it into technical terms. So today we are discussing Sundar Ram.

Sundar Ram loves to eat, drink, party, fall in love, trip and shopping. He hates to work, reach the office on time, pay rent and do every bit that takes something away from him. Sundar also is known to be a very chilled person. He does not like to argue about anything, even when he knows that he is being deceived or being cheated, takes things as they come to him and try to avoid any violent situation in and outside of the family.

Hence, Sundar wants to start a business where he will have no limits on money income and can push hard on work for a few years and then travel around the world.

So let’s break the likings into categories:

Upamanyu Sushma Naskar’s article on Why I am not Successful?
This chart shows what Ram Sundar thinks all day, and wants to achieve in his future

Sadly, Ram Sundar is not investing in anything that can be exchanged for money, do you think this lifestyle will ever bring balance to his life? How can I afford Trips, Drinks, Parties and everything that Sundar likes without money? Hence we end up working for big firms. For you labour to that company, you get paid and hence you fulfil your desires.

Noted. Now let’s focus a bit on the loopholes that went unnoticed:

  1. How will Sundar earn once he is retired?
  2. From his skills?
  3. From his knowledge?
  4. From his experience?
  5. From his investments?
  6. And if he wants to earn from his business, then why he does not like anything related to business?
  7. Whether only saving can solve the monetary problem?
  8. Will Sundar will be able to raise a business empire on his own?

Let’s review Sundar’s life in comparison to what he wants:

  1. Eating amazing food all the time would cause a severe impairment of the digestive system and eventually, you will fall short of vitamins in your body, which leads to a weaker immune system, low energy and more procrastination.
  2. Drinking on every occasion or regularly is not going to bring him anything new other than the trippy that he feels, hence he is losing the opportunity of networking, and there is no need of stating the ill effects of alcohol.
  3. Partying too frequently is never advised.
  4. Falling in love too frequently is also never advised.
  5. You cannot have way too many trips, who will fund it?

Surprisingly all these fall under the category of rewards. You have to work first to be able to afford all these. Interestingly if these rewards are not being fulfilled, it does not stop your life. And neither of these rewards are going away, hence in any case you are not missing out on anything which makes them a list of secondary desires.

Understand the universal fact, You have to earn Rewards, they don’t come for free. And you cannot buy Rewards, its only earned. Thus, making these things primary in your life will only thin down the reality grounds beneath your feet, and usually, it is detected at a later stage.

So what exactly the ViewPot showed us?

The present state of mind of Sundar.

Now the million-dollar question, What Happens Tomorrow?

H. Jackson Brown Jr. is the best person to answer this question. He said once, The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today. Best, in the right direction.

I have an interesting story for this.

Milo of Croton

So there was this amazing Athlete in South Italy. In the 6th Century BC, Milo was the Messi of the Olympics, as he won 6 times consequently in Wrestling Championship. He also won 7 times in Pythian Games, 10 times in Isthmian Games and 9 times in Nemean Games. How can one player earn so many accolades in such a varied band of sports?

Let’s peek into his background. In Milo’s village, one fine day a calf takes birth. From day 1, Milo decides to pick this calf on his shoulders and give a round around his village. He made sure he must not miss a single day in doing so.

The next day onwards, Milo would wake up early in the morning and would carry the calf on his shoulders and roam around the village with it. Since he was regular in his practice, only a fraction of his weight would increase each day.

A time came after 2.5 years when the calf grew to be an adult. He weighed around 500Kgs to 1000Kgs. Since Milo began this journey with a calf, it was always easy to carry it around. But every single day the weight increased, and so his body adjusted on a very minute level, hence no major strength was being burnt out here.

So what’s wrong with Sundar is, that he dreams of a life that is full of rewards, but where is work done for those rewards?

If Sundar wants to create a business that must perform well in the market, he will have to change his point of focus and a few habits from his life. He will have to think more about what today can be achieved for tomorrow.

The maths is simple, do something, at least something that you want to achieve every single day. That’s the mantra of success.

CHAPTER 2:

How to Boss your Brain?

At the beginning of this blog, I shared the list of excuses that we tend to give. Honestly, they are not excuses, they might be true. Because there is no one person on this planet who does not want to improve his lifestyle. Everybody wants to do some extra thing in their life that can bring some drastic difference. But your brain does not let you do it. Right?

Check out this video that shows an experiment on how our brain cannot make out the difference between a fake rubber hand and an original hand, and hammering the rubber hand pained heavenly.

That’s true, this is how the brain can be fooled.

So what I am going to write is a very-very important part of this blog, so read it slowly and understand the depth:

“Bosses are never meant to be trained, rather they boss you around,

Similarly, Brains cant be your boss because you trained them throughout your life”.

You, the person inside you told you first that your parents are your superheroes

It was you who fell in love, it was you who aimed to achieve something great and it was always and always you who helped your friends in their tough times. Do you think your brain was playing that for you? If so, then you would not be called a human being rather suggesting you as a zombie will be more apt.

Let’s see this situation in a viewpot.

Imagine your brain is a BIG ORGANISATION, like Google.

So you have thousands of employees working for you.

So in your brain, there are people who advise you that this is good or bad on the basis of your organisation’s previous experiences.

Now there is a department that generates ideas and tells your body when your organisation needs food and other breaks or you need to earn money to have a good life. So, there are departments and people who analyse your previous experiences and then tell you what best decision can be made.

Now consider ‘me’, an auditor from a 3rd party company, who came to your BRAIN ORGANISATION to check whether things are functioning properly. And I start asking questions about everything that your organisation avoided.

And my only argument to your brain is, did you research enough before taking the decision?

And the answer in the majority of scenarios would be no.

Let's say I ask, did you factor in the facts like why previously your organisation did not have a good experience and what has changed from then and now?

The answer would be no.

Also, when asked the success can be achieved by draining your sweat but it would require a lot of overtime and less comfort, would your organisation participate in such a hustle?

The answer would be no.

Like any other organisation in the world, your brain functions the same. Everyone in your brain does not want to work more, everybody (in your brain we are talking about the brain cells here) wants comfort and everybody wants you to understand that sitting and relaxing is the best thing in the world. And hello!!! It’s a reward, and who does not like it.

Now is the time to understand and realise what your employees are doing inside you. These employees do not define who you are, but you will be judged if you don’t put them to good use because then you are the bad boss here.

Life is one, but that does not mean that you can have one kind of life. Today you can change your life and be successful in whatever you want to be. All you need is

  1. Focus
  2. Repeat that focus again and again
  3. Defocus on the result and tomorrow
  4. Refocus on today’s task
  5. And focus only on the task, not on, “What ifs”

The Science of Success identifies such many things and breaks them into parts that explain why we react so. Gear up to taste the success.
